The rosary is one of the most powerful weapons that we have against the enemy. There are countless stories from the beginning of the promulgation of the rosary up until now of victories and triumphs and miracles which have come through the prayers offered by people in the manner of the rosary. Military battles have been won, illnesses have been cured, and hearts have been changed. If this simple chaplet is so powerful to effect these miraculous and awe-inspiring things, can it not also change our hearts if we pray the rosary sincerely?
Oftentimes, we can get caught up thinking, “I can’t be holy. I can’t be a saint. I’m just not cut out for it.” And as in anything in life, if you think you are defeated, then you are already defeated, but if we begin to believe that we can grow in holiness and virtue, and if we trust in the power of the rosary, then why don’t we begin to pray the rosary for us to become the saints that we are called to be. If the rosary can bring about military battles and physical cures, then certainly the rosary can obtain spiritual victory and spiritual cures, right?
“The seventy-two disciples returned rejoicing and said to Jesus, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us because of your name.’ Jesus said, ‘I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky. Behold, I have given you the power “to tread upon serpents” and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you.’” (Lk 10:23-24) Who treads upon serpents but the New Eve, who crushes the serpent with her heel? The Lord indeed has given us power, power through the rosary. Let us begin to believe and to trust in that power, and let us turn to our Blessed Mother’s intercession knowing full well that she will aid us in our combat against “the full force of the enemy.” Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.
